The Uxbridge ChamberChoir was formed in 1983 to bring quality performances of sacred and secular music to Uxbridge and to give accomplished singers a venue to develop and express their musical talents. Renowned for bringing exceptional choral music to Uxbridge, the Choir offers accomplished singers a venue to develop and express their musical talents. Founded by Thomas (Tom) Baker and Anne Mizen-Baker with support from the Ontario Arts Council and (later) Trillium Foundation, UCC has brought a special quality of choral music to the local community since its debut concert on January 28, 1984. The vision at that time, and still very much alive today, is expressed in the choir’s Mission Statement:
• We believe that singers of all ages should have the opportunity to rehearse and perform quality choral music;
• We want to ensure that local audiences have access to quality choral music without the need to travel to Toronto;
• We believe in providing our community the opportunity to learn from the expertise of our director, accompanist, professional soloists and instrumentalists.
• We believe that the Uxbridge Chamber Choir should be an active participant in the cultural life of our community.
